About Kid's Creek
Kid’s Creek, Inc. began as the vision of two friends and Speech Therapists, Melanie McGriff and Joanna Conroy. Together with their husbands, the two families launched the company in November 2003. In October, 2008 Melanie and her husband Shane completed the transaction to assume full ownership of Kid’s Creek.

During its first five years, Kid’s Creek has carefully recruited some of the most experienced and respected therapists in the Atlanta metro area, placing special emphasis on the people who demonstrated an innate ability to work effectively with small children. Growing steadily since 2003, Kid’s Creek has developed a reputation for responsiveness and professionalism among local pediatricians and families. Melanie is a mother to small children, so there has always been a true understanding for the juggling act that parents of special needs children face day-to-day. The clinic tries to be as flexible and accommodating to parents as possible. It is the desire of Melanie’s heart as well as a mission of Kid’s Creek to be a place where not only your child’s therapy needs are met, but where your family’s needs are met. Kid’s Creek, from the beginning, has been a Medicaid provider and makes every effort to work with families who may need financial assistance.

Today, Kid’s Creek is investing back into the community and is continually adding and expanding current services like Hippotherapy, Aquatic Therapy, Interactive Metronome and other innovative approaches to pediatric treatment. The clinic at John’s Creek now employs four speech therapists, five occupational therapists, and two physical therapists.

Kid's Creek Pediatric Therapy Receives 2008 Best of Suwanee Award

U.S. Local Business Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement

WASHINGTON D.C., July 15, 2008 -- Kid's Creek Pediatric Therapy has been selected for the 2008 Best of Suwanee Award in the Occupational Therapists category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).

The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2008 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.

New Therapy Resolves Thumb Sucking and Tongue Thrust Issues
Kid's Creek Therapy now offers services for:
  • Tongue Thrust Swallowing
  • Thumb Sucking
  • Short Upper Lip
  • Open-Mouth Rest Posture

Orofacial myology is a form of treatment that deals with the tongue and facial muscles. When your teeth are not aligned properly it is called “malocclusion”. Swallowing with the tongue forward and improper resting posture of the tongue can interfere with the relationship of the teeth, causing malocclusion. These conditions can be corrected with a team approach combining orthodontics and orofacial myology.

Together we cultivate an awareness of the muscles used for swallowing and develop a regular exercise and therapy program. Our goal is to strengthen and rehabilitate the tongue and facial muscles while making the new neuromuscular patterns habitual. This team approach enhances overall appearance, produces more positive physical and mental health and often improves speech.

What Parents Are Saying About Kid’s Creek

"Sarah is 17 years old with the diagnosis of autism. She has been receiving therapies at Kids Creek for approximately 2 years.

After a relocation and the same therapy center for over 8 years I felt I would have a hard time finding a comparable therapy center. Well, I was wrong. Kids Creek Therapy not only made us feel welcome but also has worked hard at improving Sarah's well being as if she were just beginning therapies. I feel very fortunate to have found such an open and welcoming therapy center for Sarah.

The entire staff has gone above everyday operations to help Sarah and make us feel welcomed. Every therapist there acknowledges Sarah and makes her feel she is just like any other child or young adult, which is what a lot of our children strive for in life.

I will continue to recommend Kids Creek Therapy to anyone looking for exceptional care and therapy for their child."

- Sarah’s Mom

“Jason has entered first grade now and I couldn't be more pleased with his progress. We moved to Vicksburg, MS last summer. I was somewhat afraid that we would walk into an environment unfamiliar with the sensory processing world and in some ways, we have. As a mom I dreaded the regression that Jason would experience in kindergarten and first grade.

Jason's progress is remarkable. I remember when we moved I asked [our OT] to give me a letter for the new school so they would know how to "handle" Jason. She assured me that he would do fine with his new coping skills and that she wanted HIM to adjust to his new environment. Well, if you can be CURED of Sensory Processing Disorder, I feel that Jason has been. His new teachers, OT and school therapists see no noticeable sign of Sensory Processing Disorder. I show them the reports and they continue to tell me he is not showing signs of needing help/accommodations at school. He is getting A+ on tests and perfect behavior reports. We could not be happier. I wish every child with Sensory Processing Disorder could attend therapy at Kid's Creek. It has changed our lives and I know it has made a lasting impact on Jason and his success in school. Jason's Sensory Processing Disorder was most noticeable with social relations and that is almost gone. He still loves to bump into walls, but sometimes I wonder if that's just a habit/fun thing now and not a real need. We still have issues with clothes bothering him, but [my husband] and I do, too!! All of these things are rarely noticed by others as unusual.

We are truly blessed. I truly believe that he would have gone undiagnosed [in our previous location] and I would be singing a different song today. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart!! Your clinic and [Jason’s OT] hold a very special place in my heart. God bless you and every child you serve.”
